Netscape 2 & 3 E-mail Problems

1. Problem:

Solution:

Email is included as part of the program. Select Window, then Netscape Mail. You can also click on the small envelope in the bottom righ corner. These should open up the mail screen automatically and check your mail.

2. Problem: I have e-mail, but can't see the message text unless I print it

Solution: First make sure you have maximized the mail screen. Then select the Inbox in the upper left window of the screen, and the message title in the upper right window. If the message text is not visible in the lower part of the screen, move the mouse to the bottom of the window. When the mouse pointer changes to two parallel lines with arrows, hold the mouse button down and drag up the screen. This should move the border between upper and lower screen windows up the screen and reveal the message text.

3. Problem: When I check for Mail, it seems to stall when downloading, or downloads the same messages I received last time.

Solution: E-Mail is not designed to transfer large files as attachments. When someone sends a graphics file (bmp, gif, jpg) film clip (avi) or other large file attached to an e-mail, it may cause your e-mail to bog down when downloading. If one or more normal sized messages are in front of the large one, they may be received by your system, but our server does not register a complete transfer, so they are sent again. The fix for this problem is to contact our support staff and request you mail box be cleaned out. This may result in the loss of some e-mail. The long term fix is to ask your correspondents not to attach large files to their e-mail.
