Double checking FreePPP

Checking that FreePPP is installed correctly

This page is a basic troubleshooting guide to FreePPP, the Macintosh internet dialer installed from the Dynamic Software CD. More information plus frequently asked questions can be found on The Official FreePPP Page.

It is already assumed on this page that you have FreePPP installed on your machine. Contact Dynamic to find out where to get our software CD, if you do not yet have it installed. Otherwise, if you have MacOS 8.5 or higher, and want to connect using the Internet Setup Assistant instead, refer to our section on connecting to Dynamic using the Internet Setup Assistant.

Go to the small icon of the phone pictured in your Finder menu.
Select the FreePPP Setup option.

Check the General Settings
Your FreePPP setup should look similar to this. If you want your modem to disconnect after a certain amount of idle time, check the box that says "Disconnect if idle for" and pull the menu down to the appropriate time.

In the Accounts Tab:
Make sure that the "Dynamic Internet" option is selected.

Make sure your modem is selected:
If your modem is not listed choose "Generic Modem."

Check your TCP/IP settings.
After clicking on the "Open TCP/IP..." button on the General tab check to see that the information is entered like above.
