Dynamic Internet is happy to host its customer's personal home pages. To use this service, you must comply with our guidelines for hosting web pages. Please read the guidelines before attempting to post your web page to our server. Then follow the steps below for posting and updating your home page at Dynamic Internet. Customers uploading web pages for the first time should take the extra time to read our section on basic definitions to become familiar with a few basic concepts first.

1. Basic Definitions
- What is a directory?
- Your directory is the place on our web server where your files will be stored. This is similar to the directory structure of files on your home computer.
- What is a "path name"?
- A path name is the location of a directory or a file on a computer.
- What will my directory be on Dynamic's web server?
- The path name to your directory will be "homepage.dycon.com/username" where username is your username with Dynamic Internet.
- How will people find my web page once it's uploaded?
- The address you type in when you want to view your page from a web browser will be: http://homepage.dycon.com/username
- What is FTP?
- FTP is the acronym for File Protocol Transfer. It is a method to transfer files between computers. The programs WS_FTP and Fetch are a graphical ways to transfer files.
- What does the word upload mean?
- To transfer a file from your computer to our webserver, via FTP and a modem.

2. Notify Dynamic Internet
Dynamic Internet provides FTP access to its servers to make it easy for you to upload and update your web page as often as you like.
Here are a few guidelines for using this convenient service:
- If you have not already done so, notify Dynamic Internet that you want to establish a personal home page. You will not be granted a directory with FTP access until you do.
Dynamic Internet will create your directory with a default index page which you will automatically overwrite when you upload your index.html page.
- Customers receiving FTP access to Dynamic's web server must agree not to host other people's web pages in their directory and not to tamper with the function of the web server.

3. Obtain an FTP program
In order to upload files, you need to install an FTP program on your computer.
