 Fetch for the Macintosh
This is a brief guide for first time users. We recommend you read the help files that come with Fetch to learn how to use the application.
You may also find these online tutorials useful.
Logging on with Fetch
- Install Fetch and open the application.
- Open the File menu at the top of the screen and select Open Connection.
- Fill in the dialog box that appears on screen.
Host: homepage.dycon.com
User ID: your username
Password:your password
Click the OK button.
(It is not necessary to fill in the box labeled Directory.
- For convenience, you may create a Shortcut which saves the connection profile and simplifies future log ins. To create a Shortcut, open the Customize menu at the top of the screen and select New Shortcut. Fill in the dialog box and click OK.
- The next time you open a connection, notice the word Shortcut in the dialog box. Click on the arrow to reveal a list of your shortcuts. Select the one you need and click OK.
Placing and Removing Files
- The box across the top left indicates the directory you are in.
Sub-directories are indicated by a folder icon.
Uploading a File
- Click on the Put Files... button
- Fill in the name of the file
- Be sure the button beside Automatic is checked
- For text files, select the Raw Data text format, then click OK.
Downloading a File
- To Get a File
- Click on the Get Files... button
- Fill in the name of the file
- Select a location on your computer to store the file
- If you wish to remove or rename a file or directory, use the Remote Menu.
